The history of Debrecen's higher education dates back to the 16th century. The Calvinist Reformed College, established in 1538, played a central role in education, teaching in the native language and spreading Hungarian culture in the region as well as in the whole country. The College was a sound base for the Hungarian Royal University established in 1912. Apart from the three academic faculties (arts, law, theology) a new faculty, the faculty of medicine was introduced, and the University soon became one of the regional citadels of Hungarian higher education. With fifteen faculties organized into 3 centers and a student body of over 25 thousand the University of Debrecen is one of the largest institutions of higher education in Hungary.

History

  • The University of Debrecen in Hungary is becoming increasingly popular with international students as they discover its high-quality education, recognition of its degrees and affordable university tuition fees and living expenses. There are students from around 60 countries at Debrecen; 147 UK students were enrolled at the University for the 2011–12 academic year.
  • The history of higher education in Debrecen goes back to the 16th century when the city established the Calvinist College of Debrecen in 1538. A great number of writers, scientists and politicians received their education at the College, and it became one of Hungary's major centres of culture. In the 18th century the schools of Law and Theology were founded and although no separate School of Medicine existed, physicians were also trained in the College. Today's University Medical School is rooted in this spiritual heritage.
  • The University of Debrecen was officially inaugurated on 23 October 1918 and at that time consisted of four faculties – Arts, Science, Theology and Medicine. The Faculty of Medicine became an independent University Medical School under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in 1951.
  • The Medical School has 22 departments of basic sciences and 25 clinical departments specializing in various fields. It serves as the city hospital for Debrecen and students may also undertake their clinical training here.

Location and Transport

  • The University of Debrecen is located in the east of Hungary in the country's second largest city, in an attractive and peaceful forested area of nature reserve.
  • The city's public transport facilities are excellent and the University can be reached within minutes by tram, bus and trolleybus.
  • There are regular flights from London–Luton airport to Debrecen airport, and Hungary's national airport at Budapest is around two-and-a-half hours away from Debrecen by car or train.

In 1983 Bath Academy of Art also merged into the college. In 1992, the college was granted degree-awarding powers and in 1997 adopted the name Bath Spa University College. Ca' Foscari University of Venice (Italian: Università Ca' Foscari Venezia) is a public university in Venice, Italy; it is usually known simply as Università Ca' Foscari. Since its foundation in 1868 it has been housed in the Venetian Gothic palace of Ca' Foscari, from which it takes its name. The palace stands on the Grand Canal, between the Rialto and San Marco, in the sestiere of Dorsoduro.

History
The institution was founded as the Regia Scuola Superiore di Commercio ("royal high school of commerce") by a Royal Decree dated 6 August 1868, and teaching commenced in December of the same year. The idea of establishing such a school had arisen after the annexation of the Veneto to the new Kingdom of Italy in 1866, and was promoted by three people in particular: the Jewish political economist Luigi Luzzatti, later Prime Minister of Italy; Edoardo Deodati, senator of the Kingdom of Italy and vice-president of the province of Venice; and the Sicilian political economist Francesco Ferrara, director of the school for its first thirty years.

The first graduation ceremony’s keynote speaker was Jean Kennedy Smith, American ambassador to Ireland and sister of former President John F. Kennedy, beginning a tradition of distinguished keynote speakers at the College commencements that would subsequently include Nobel Peace Prize recipients John Hume and Senator George Mitchell, former Attorney General and Goldman Sachs Chairman Peter Sutherland, former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox, Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin, former Tánaiste Mary Harney and the sister of current US Vice President Joe Biden, Valerie Biden Owens. The development of the College’s Dublin campus continued apace through the 1990s; in 2002 the institution expanded its operations with the establishment of a sister campus in Delaware, which became known as American College Delaware.

The reunification of families of foreign students is usually only considered if the student is in possession of a residence permit, if the marriage existed at the time of said permit being granted and if the duration of the foreigner's stay in the Federal territory is expected to exceed one year.

Furthermore, the student has to be able to support himself/herself and his/her family without assistance of public funds.

For families to join students in Germany they would have to apply for a visa for family reunification from the competent Germany mission abroad. Details on the documents to be presented with the visa application are often available on the webpage of the competent German mission abroad or directly from the mission itself.

You can demonstrate your German language level with two different tests.
“DSH” (German Language University Entrance Examination for Foreign Applicants) and
“TestDaF” (Test of German as a Foreign Language).

German is not a prerequisite if you enrol in an international degree programme or a special post-graduate course. Some universities do not ask for proof of German language proficiency if you plan on studying there for only one or two semesters. This rule does not apply everywhere, however. It’s best to inquire directly at the university of your choice about the language requirements for incoming students.

With so many degree programmes to choose from, it’s not so easy to maintain an overview. If you’re having a hard time deciding, there are tests available online which can help you:

TestAS – Test whether you are prepared for university-level study in Germany (free)

Self-assessment – Particularly suited to technical subjects; test your strengths and weaknesses (free)

South Thames College is a  Further Education college in South West London. It operates three campuses: Wandsworth, Tooting and Merton
Today, over 21,000 students are enrolled at South Thames College, and government funded courses like BTEC Nationals and A-levels are free for 16-19 year olds.
The college was inspected by Ofsted in June 2009 and again in May 2012 and was awarded a ‘Good’ rating in both inspections. Ofsted praised the college’s rising success rates and the “safe and inclusive environment”, rating the safeguarding and care of their students as 'outstanding'. In 2016, Ofsted stated the college 'required improvement' in six key areas

History

In 2009, the College merged with Merton College, another thriving education establishment in South West London
There has been an educational establishment on our Wandsworth site in south west London for more than 100 years.
It was founded in 1895, funded by a tax on whiskey! Students had to pay what was then a substantial fee of £1 a term for day classes. There were around 500 students studying there, a large number for those times.
1910-11 College regulations stated that "...each boy must wear the school cap or straw hat; he must also provide himself with a satchel, gymnasium shoes and a swimming costume." Apparently, the caps came in different colours depending on what "House" the student belonged to and, according to one student in 1930, the colours used to run in the rain, staining the students' faces blue, red, green or yellow.
Today our vocational courses are still designed to give excellent training and maximise the potential of students looking for skills. These still include carpentry, brickwork, plumbing, and hygiene, but we have expanded into many other areas too.
