History

In 1951 the National College of Ireland started out as the Catholic Workers College in Sandford Lodge, Ranelagh. Founded by Fr. Edward Coyne S.J., others involved in the college in its initial years included Professor Thomas A. Finlay S.J., and Rev. Edmund Kent S.J. among others.

Lectures were led by a handful of dedicated Jesuits two nights a week, with 103 registered students in the first year. Within 10 years, student numbers had dramatically increased. Links with trade unions deepened, as did formal collaborations with employer and management groups.

By 1966, nearly 1,300 students from trade union and business management backgrounds were learning together at the re-branded National College of Industrial Relations (NCIR).

In 1976 the college achieved recognition by the states National Council for Educational Awards (NCEA), the forerunner of HETAC, for a number of its programmes.

Recently UKCISA have issued an update on the use of joint bank accounts to demonstrate students’ maintenance for Tier 4 applications.

Should students intend to use a parent’s bank account to demonstrate their maintenance, the account cannot be a joint account between both parents.

If students plan to use a parent’s bank statement as part of their visa application for studying in the UK, there must only be one name on the account.

The only instances where a joint bank account may be used as evidence is if the student is one of the named account holders.

If you have any queries regarding the bank statements, please contact us.

The history of Debrecen's higher education dates back to the 16th century. The Calvinist Reformed College, established in 1538, played a central role in education, teaching in the native language and spreading Hungarian culture in the region as well as in the whole country. The College was a sound base for the Hungarian Royal University established in 1912. Apart from the three academic faculties (arts, law, theology) a new faculty, the faculty of medicine was introduced, and the University soon became one of the regional citadels of Hungarian higher education. With fifteen faculties organized into 3 centers and a student body of over 25 thousand the University of Debrecen is one of the largest institutions of higher education in Hungary.

History

  • The University of Debrecen in Hungary is becoming increasingly popular with international students as they discover its high-quality education, recognition of its degrees and affordable university tuition fees and living expenses. There are students from around 60 countries at Debrecen; 147 UK students were enrolled at the University for the 2011–12 academic year.
  • The history of higher education in Debrecen goes back to the 16th century when the city established the Calvinist College of Debrecen in 1538. A great number of writers, scientists and politicians received their education at the College, and it became one of Hungary's major centres of culture. In the 18th century the schools of Law and Theology were founded and although no separate School of Medicine existed, physicians were also trained in the College. Today's University Medical School is rooted in this spiritual heritage.
  • The University of Debrecen was officially inaugurated on 23 October 1918 and at that time consisted of four faculties – Arts, Science, Theology and Medicine. The Faculty of Medicine became an independent University Medical School under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in 1951.
  • The Medical School has 22 departments of basic sciences and 25 clinical departments specializing in various fields. It serves as the city hospital for Debrecen and students may also undertake their clinical training here.

Location and Transport

  • The University of Debrecen is located in the east of Hungary in the country's second largest city, in an attractive and peaceful forested area of nature reserve.
  • The city's public transport facilities are excellent and the University can be reached within minutes by tram, bus and trolleybus.
  • There are regular flights from London–Luton airport to Debrecen airport, and Hungary's national airport at Budapest is around two-and-a-half hours away from Debrecen by car or train.

It gained full university status in August 2005. It is the UK's sixth biggest provider of Teacher Education. History

The institution can trace its roots back to the foundation of the Bath School of Art in 1852, following the impact of The Great Exhibition of 1851. In 1946 Bath Teacher Training College was opened on the Newton Park campus, as part of the post-war initiatives to fill wartime teaching shortages by a one-year course for ex-service people. The present institution was formed in 1975 as Bath College of Higher Education by the merger of Bath Teacher Training College and Bath College of Domestic Science. In 1983 Bath Academy of Art also merged into the college. In 1992, the college was granted degree-awarding powers and in 1997 adopted the name Bath Spa University College. In March 2005 the institution was granted university status, becoming Bath Spa University in August 2005.

Ca' Foscari University of Venice (Italian: Università Ca' Foscari Venezia) is a public university in Venice, Italy; it is usually known simply as Università Ca' Foscari. Since its foundation in 1868 it has been housed in the Venetian Gothic palace of Ca' Foscari, from which it takes its name. The palace stands on the Grand Canal, between the Rialto and San Marco, in the sestiere of Dorsoduro.

History
The institution was founded as the Regia Scuola Superiore di Commercio ("royal high school of commerce") by a Royal Decree dated 6 August 1868, and teaching commenced in December of the same year. The idea of establishing such a school had arisen after the annexation of the Veneto to the new Kingdom of Italy in 1866, and was promoted by three people in particular: the Jewish political economist Luigi Luzzatti, later Prime Minister of Italy; Edoardo Deodati, senator of the Kingdom of Italy and vice-president of the province of Venice; and the Sicilian political economist Francesco Ferrara, director of the school for its first thirty years.

History

American College Dublin, accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, was founded as a not-for-profit independent educational trust in May 1993 by Lynn University, a liberal arts institution located in Boca Raton, Florida. The College admitted its first liberal arts and business degree students in September 1993 and graduated its first class in 1996. The first graduation ceremony’s keynote speaker was Jean Kennedy Smith, American ambassador to Ireland and sister of former President John F. Kennedy, beginning a tradition of distinguished keynote speakers at the College commencements that would subsequently include Nobel Peace Prize recipients John Hume and Senator George Mitchell, former Attorney General and Goldman Sachs Chairman Peter Sutherland, former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox, Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin, former Tánaiste Mary Harney and the sister of current US Vice President Joe Biden, Valerie Biden Owens. The development of the College’s Dublin campus continued apace through the 1990s; in 2002 the institution expanded its operations with the establishment of a sister campus in Delaware, which became known as American College Delaware.
