Founded in 1979, the American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI Chico) is the intensive English language program located on the California State University, Chico campus. ALCI Chico offers affordable, year-round English language instruction, and an introduction to American culture and higher education. For more than thirty-five years, ALCI Chico has successfully provided intensive English language instruction and conditional University admissions for thousands of students from more than 90 countries.
California State University, Chico (Chico State) is a residential, master’s level public university located in beautiful northern California. Established in 1887, it is the second-oldest university in the 23 campus California State University system. The University offers more than 100 bachelor and master degree programs and options. CSU, Chico is consistently rated as one of the best universities in the western United States.
Location &Transportation
Chico is in beautiful Northern California in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Parks and tree lined streets make it a wonderful place to live and study. Chico is known for being a friendly, safe, and affordable place to live.
When you are making arrangements to travel to Chico, we recommend you fly into Sacramento International Airport (SMF) and utilize the North Valley as ground transport to Chico (90 miles - 145 kilometers). The North Valley Shuttle has limited service (three round trips per day). A shuttle reservation with drop off service to your housing address in Chico (+$10) is recommended.
