A Pharmacy degree is perfect for students interested in chemistry and how medicine assists patients with their condition. Whether working at a local drug store to dispense medication from a General Practitioner, or working in a vast and complex hospital to ensure doctors, nurses and patients receive the correct advice and assistance, a career in pharmacy is ideal for those interested in health, disease and science.

Pharmacy courses generally last for four years and modules will look at pharmacology, biology and physiology pharmaceutics, chemistry, ethics and economics. Students will also benefit from work placements within the industry to provide valuable insights and professional experience. State-of-the-art labs will help finesse your skills with replica medicine-dispensing stations, consulting areas and computers linked the systems used by the Pharmacy industry.

There are three main roles that a Pharmacy graduate can move into.

Pharmacist: The majority of pharmacists work in complex hospital pharmacies or community pharmacies, ensuring that over the counter medicine is prescribed correctly. They ensure that patients receive their correct medicine, as well as advising on treatments and how to manage their doses, and work closely with doctors, nurses and other health care professionals.

Pharmacy Assistant: Assistants work alongside technicians and perform many activities on an ad-hoc basis. This can involve taking in and handing out prescriptions, helping order stock to ensure demand is met within various departments, and answering queries from customers on the best course of action. Assistants are most commonly employed in hospitals.

Pharmacy Technician:  Technicians tend to work in two areas – hospitals and community pharmacy - and they ensure the correct supply and dosage of medicine is delivered to patients. Pharmacy technicians can specialise in a number of roles such as manufacturing, quality control and clinical trials.



Entry requirements for Pharmacy vary depending upon wether you wish to become a technician, assistant or pharmacist, but qualifications in maths, English and chemistry are generally required.

Law programmes at UK universities provide a comprehensive and critical understanding of core legal principles and practical skills. Students will learn the content of law and legal analysis, gaining experience in the areas of mooting, arguing and negotiation. Almost all UK law courses allow students the option of taking a year’s professional placement at a firm, while overseas study is also available. Students can also choose to combine Law with another subject such as business, politics or journalism.

A solicitor, who advises on legal issues but can not represents people in a courtroom. It is possible to become a solicitor without a law degree but most students qualify by the GDL (graduate Diploma in law route) .  There are following steps to become a practising solicitor

Step 1 :  Obtain a three-year undergraduate degree in law (LLB) in the UK or an UG degree in any other subject followed by a GDL Program (1 year) .

Step 2 : Take the one-year Legal Practice Course (LPC)

Step 3 : Gain practice-based training incorporating the Professional Skills Course – two years full-time

Step 4 : Admission to the roll of solicitors.

Barristers are professional lawyer those are able to provide specialist legal representation in a court, There are following steps to becoming a barrister in the UK:

Step 1 : Obtain a three-year undergraduate degree in law (LLB) in the UK or an UG degree in any other subject followed by a GDL Program (1 year).

Step 2 :  Take the one-year Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC).

Step 3:  Pupillage - spend one year as a pupil in barristers’ chambers or in another organisation approved by the Bar Standards Board   as a Pupillage Training Organisation (PTO).

Step 4: Obtain tenancy in a barristers’ chambers or go into practice as an employed barrister.

A law degree from overseas university are not recognised in the UK to be a qualified solicitor or barrister .  Overseas qualified lawyer needs to have a certificate of academic standing (CAS) from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or from  Bar Standards Board . CAS prove that you are eligible to do a Graduate Diploma in Law, which takes one year full-time or up to 22 months part-time.

After GDL , student can do LPC if student wants to be a solicitor  or do BPTC if student wants to be a barrister.

In some circumstances, your Certificate of Academic Standing may give you direct entry to these courses without having to complete a Graduate Diploma in Law.

When and where to take a test?

TOEFL offer multiple test dates and is conducted in various countries around the world. Test dates are over 50 in a year, and you can retake as many tests as you need. However, there has to be a gap of 12 days before you can take a retest. Once your test date is allocated, you cannot register on another date within 12 days of the existing one. Check out the violation policies:

  • If violation is identified post registration and before the test, the scheduled appointment will be annulled without a fee refund
  • If violation is detected after the test scores are out, the scores will be immediately cancelled without a fee refund

Who accepts TOEFL scores?

College admission officers accept TOEFL scores in comparison with other English language tests. You must look for institutions that rely on the TOEFL scores, or check whether the university you have applied for considers TOEFL.

In Australia, TOEFL scores are accepted for higher study candidates, skilled migrants, post-study candidates and for business visas.

In the UK, TOEFL scores are acknowledged for Tier 4 student visas under some conditions.
